Mangaluru: Gandhi 150 Padayatra to be inaugurated on Oct 20

Mangaluru, Oct 16: As part of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations, ‘Gandhi 150 Padayatra’ will be held on October 20, Sunday, informed district BJP president Sanjeev Matandoor. 

Addressing media here on Wednesday, October 16, Sanjeev Matandoor said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi had suggested undertaking Padayatra in every constituency from October 2 till January 30, the day Gandhi was assassinated. In this regard, the inauguration will be held on October 20 near Gandhi statue at State Bank where MLAs, MP will take part in Padayatra from State Bank to Mangala stadium.” 

"From October 21, Padayatra of 150 kilometers will be undertaken in every constituency of the district under the leadership of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. These yathras should be completed before January 30. The objective behind the Padayatra is to convey message about Mahatma Gandhi,” he said. 

"Other than Padayatra, Prime Minister Modi has taken a decision on water conservation and make India free from single-use-plastic,” said Sanjeev Matandoor. 

Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath, BJP leader Sanjay Prabhu and others were present.
