Faye D'Souza resigns from Mirror Now news channel

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (SR)

Mumbai, Sep 9: Faye D'Souza, the Executive Editor of ‘Mirror Now’ news channel, has reportedly resigned from the media company. As per sources, Vinay Tewari will be the new Managing Editor at the news channel.

As per reports, Faye D'Souza will still have a role to play at Times Network’s second English news channel.

Faye D'Souza joined the Times Group in October 2008 and before that she worked with CNBC-TV18 for four years.

Hector Kenneth, previous Vice President and input head of Times Now, will be appointed as the input head of both, Mirror Now and Times Now.

Mirror Now was previously known as ‘Magicbricks’, when Faye D'Souza joined the channel, it was rebranded as Mirror Now in April 2017. Back then, Faye said “It was a tiny channel which almost started off as a love project. Both Anand (MK Anand, MD and CEO, Times Network) and I believed that if we do news that is about people, it will resonate."

Faye D'Souza was famous for her bold, outspoken attitude and rose to popularity after one of her panel discussions went viral.

If Mirror Now TV Channel has become popular, it is because of Ms.Faye D'Souza. Her free, frank and fearless opinions are applauded by many viewers. She always defended citizen's rights- be it in Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, UP or any other part of India and at times, exposed the government failures. This must have irked some political leaders who, must have exerted pressure on her employers and the result is here to see. Only those TV Channels like Republic who dance according to the tune of the government, can survive.

We all will miss you Faye. Mirror Now will not be the same anymore without you.

She was one of the very few honest and fearless journalists. You call her biased because she did not stoop before the dictator-like powers and their fanatic followers.

First i disliked her because she is a feminist but later become fan because the content of this channel , they show relevant news and often support common people and their problems . I stopped watching many channels like republic , time now as they become mere modi propaganda mediums , ndtv and mirror now was the exception . M actually shocked and will like to know the reason behind this resignation

Now a days Politics is shown in the news as if there is no other topic in this Country!!
Further the top and bottom part of the screen are so full of advertisements that we can barely see the people inside in the small / middle part of the screen.

Was it pressure on Faye or has downturn in economy hit Mirror Now. Only a couple of channels are now available which questions people in power rather than becoming propaganda machinery.

One of the very few journalists who calls a spade a spade without taking sides. She is very audacious and outspoken. Unlike Arnab Goswami she presents an opportunity to every one to make his or her point and never favours any political party. I wouldn't be surprised if she proved to be a thorn in some politician's flesh and was therefore forced to quit. Faye will be sorely missed.

As long as news channels are rated on Bow Bow standards, we have reason to worry. The more you shout and scream, the higher the rating. What do viewers look for, volume of the noise ?

Very unfortunate India will not get to see the fiery straightforward journalism from Faye. Current situation in India is that even though it is idealogical differences, anyone against BJP is an anti-national. And what happens ?? One is lynched or beaten up. Speak about intolerance and suddenly you are given a virtual visa to Pakistan. People should understand, people who cry for freedom of speech and expression are the ones who value it. But unfortunately na. It isn't allowed. Because to disagree with BJP is to be a anti-national and the threat to be branded as a terrorist in our own country.

I had stopped viewing all paid channels from last year, but chose Mirror Now though it was part of Times Now for its bold & people oriented concerns & the way it stopped barking at guests on the panel by Moderator of prejudices which was unlike other channels which thrived on fake narratives, shouting & fist of fury dramatics to sustain their TRP.
It also didn't raise our BP with guests not shouting out other panelists by turning down their mikes & focused more on relevant matters & the issues that were affecting people rather than pleasing their political mentors.
The order must have come from higher authorities prompted by political bosses to stop this by shunting Award Winning Journalist from discharging her duties without Pride or Prejudice.
Now I can unsubscribe this channel too if it changes its stripes soon.
After NDTV which has cowed down with IT, ED, & CBI raids, I had stopped their subscription & I now save more money thanks to our Political Hegemony Perpetrators.
