Puttur: Two sentenced to 3 years imprisonment in 2023 Uppinangady robbery case

Puttur, Jun 16: A local court has sentenced two individuals to three years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each in connection with a robbery case reported under the Uppinangady police station limits in 2023.

The convicted individuals have been identified as Razeem, a resident of Ilanthila in Beltangady, and Mustafa, a resident of Kokkada.

The robbery took place on March 20, 2023, at Ilanthila. Following the incident, a case was registered at the Uppinangady police station (Crime No 34/2023) under Sections 392 and 216(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Sections 196 and 115 r/w 190(2) of the Indian Motor Vehicles (IMV) Act.

The then circle inspector, Ravi B S, conducted a thorough investigation, gathered crucial evidence, and filed a chargesheet against the accused before the court.

After examining the evidence, PSCJ and JMFC court judge Manu B K found the accused guilty of the charges. The court sentenced both Razeem and Mustafa to three years of simple imprisonment and levied a penalty of Rs 10,000 each.

Assistant public prosecutor Divyaraja Hegde successfully argued the case on behalf of the state.
