1. BRICS Summit 2026: India to Host 18th Leaders Summit

India has begun preparations to host the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, 2026. This 2-day event at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan will be attended by leaders of state and government belonging to the expanded BRICS group along with invited international participants and dignitaries. This summit has great significance not only because it celebrates 20 years of BRICS but because it also marks the first leaders’ summit after an historic expansion of the bloc. As the chair, India is prioritizing issues such as trade, technology, finance, energy security and global institution reform.

BRICS Summit 2026: Date, Venue and Theme

The 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit will take place on September 12-13, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The chairmanship of India is characterized by the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability” in the larger context of “Humanity First.”

The BRICS Business Forum and the session of Women’s Business Alliance will be held before the leaders’ summit on September 11.

What will be Discussed by BRICS Leaders?

The BRICS summit has an extensive agenda covering different themes of economy, technology, geopolitics and more.

Some of them includes,

  • Cross-border payment solutions
  • Use of national currencies
  • MSMEs

2. India Joins Global 6G Initiative

India has become part of a multinational initiative that aims at guiding the development of 6G telecommunications infrastructure, which is part of India’s growing interest in digital technologies. Launched on September 7, 2026, the global initiative comprises the USA and 24 other countries, and is focused on security, competitiveness, and technology innovations. India’s joining of this global initiative is very important considering the fact that countries start laying down the technical and policy foundation of 6G, which is going to be the successor to 5G technology.

 

3. Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme

The Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme serves as a testament to the fact that a medical emergency can cost a family their entire savings in just a few days. Households from low-income and middle-income groups have to weigh the cost of getting specialized medical services like cardiology treatment, oncological treatment and organ transplant surgery.

To help families with financial burden, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has initiated the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme (earlier known as the Dr. YSR Aarogyasri Scheme). This scheme is based on a public-private partnership (PPP) model and is one of the most useful initiatives that the government has implemented.

 

4. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar 2026

The Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Shri Kishor Makwana, will be conferred the “Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar 2026” tomorrow in recognition of the Commission’s dedicated service and significant contribution to social justice.

The Prime Point Foundation and the Sansad Ratna Awards Committee have nominated the National Commission for Scheduled Castes for the honour. The award will be presented during the 16th edition of the Sansad Ratna Awards 2026 in Delhi. The award ceremony is being organised by the civil society.

Under the leadership of Shri Kishor Makwana, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes has strengthened its role as an effective institution committed to protecting the constitutional rights and interests of Scheduled Caste communities. The Commission has actively worked to ensure justice, dignity, equality and social empowerment for members of these communities.

 

5. India Fourth at Pickleball World Cup

India performed its best ever by grabbing the fourth position at the Pickleball World Cup 2026 held in Da Nang, Vietnam. There were 82 teams taking part in this event and India won 41 medals. The Indian team won seven gold, 17 silver and 17 bronze medals. The team has done much better than its seventh position in the previous World Cup. The Indian team was represented by 48 players who took part in the competition in Kids, Juniors, Open, Seniors and Masters categories.

India Makes Significant Move up World Cup Rankings
The fourth place of India is a much better achievement compared to its seventh place in the previous World Cup.

There were 48 players representing India in the World Cup held in Vietnam. They took part in different categories and managed to win 41 medals. The Indian Pickleball Association has taken this achievement as motivation for promoting the game at the grassroots level.

The medal list is as follows:

  • 7 Gold medals
  • 17 Silver medals
  • 17 Bronze medals
  • Total: 41 medals

 

6. Aerospace Policy 2026-31

The Karnataka Aerospace Policy 2026-31 seeks to boost investments in aerospace technology and manufacturing in the state.

According to Parameshwara, there will be subsidy elements for industries based in focus and non-focus areas. The policy is being rolled out amid efforts by the state to boost its standing as an important aerospace manufacturing destination.

There is already considerable aerospace industry activity in Bengaluru, where Tata Advanced Systems is set to manufacture 40 aircraft and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will make 97 Light Combat Aircraft.

Incentives for Industries in Backward and Most Backward Taluks
The Cabinet gave clearance for the incentives, which will be used to induce industries to make investments in backward and most backward taluks.

Industries that will make investments in backward taluks will get incentives of up to 10%, whereas in the case of industries making investments in most backward taluks, incentives of up to 20% can be provided.

The industries that will be focused upon are,

  • Aerospace
  • Defence
  • Automobile
  • Electric vehicle
  • Electronics

 

7. Asian Games 2026

HONOHON is the official mascot of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 that will take place in Japan from 19 September to 4 October 2026. This mascot is based on the idea of passionate attitude of athletes and its fusion with Shachihoko, the traditional symbolic guardian of Aichi-Nagoya. Its red color, big eyes, ears like those of Shachihoko, and design inspired by Kabuki combine sport with the cultural heritage of the host region. HONOHON is an essential current-affairs point of information for those who prepare for competitive exams.

Who Is HONOHON?

HONOHON is the official mascot of the 20th Asian Games. The mascot was created to personify the passion and enthusiasm of the athletes participating in the sports competition across Asia.

According to the description, HONOHON was born in the hearts of athletes. HONOHON’s purpose is to unite people at the Aichi-Nagoya Games following the Games’ slogan:

The name HONOHON derives from the word “Honoho” which means “flame” in Japanese. The symbol refers to the image of burning high and bright fire looking like an ear of rice.

 

8. Centre Appoints 8 Chief Justices Across High Courts in India

Eight Newly Appointed Chief Justices of High Courts

The eight new appointees made by the Centre include the following,

  • Chief Justice of Patna High Court will be Justice Valluri Kameswar Rao of Delhi High Court.
  • Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court will be Justice Ravindra V Ghuge of Bombay High Court.
  • Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court will be Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal of Chhattisgarh High Court.
  • Head of Bombay High Court will be Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi of Allahabad High Court.
  • Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court will be Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
  • Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court will be Justice Krushna Ram Mohapatra of Orissa High Court.
  • Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court will be Justice Alpesh Yeshvant Kogje of Gujarat High Court.
