2026 USISPF Leadership Award

Sunil Bharti Mittal, Founder and Chairman of Bharti Enterprises has been honored with the 2026 Leadership Award by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF).

He recognized for his outstanding contribution to strengthening economic ties between the India and North America. This award was presented during the IX USISPF Annual Leadership Summit which was held in Washington, D.C.

 

VB-G RAM G Act 2025

The Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025 will comes into force in India from 1st of July, 2026.

This act introduced the strengthened framework for the rural employment and livelihood security. The landmark legislation increases the statutory wage employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days for every eligible rural household and placing greater emphasis on the durable asset creation, sustainable development and transparent governance.

Ahead of the nation wide rollout, Respectable Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has affirmed that no eligible rural worker should remain without the employment even for a single day.

What Is the VB-G RAM G Act?

The VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 is the new rural employment framework which is aimed at to enhancing the livelihood security, creating productive community assets and strengthening village economies.

It replaces the earlier structure with the expanded employment opportunities and improved implementation mechanisms.

This act forms the part of the Government’s broader vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and it focusing on to the nclusive rural development through the sustainable employment, technology-driven governance, and community participation.

 

Swar Prerna Veethika

Akashvani marks 90 years of public service broadcasting, it prepares for the centenary of radio broadcasting in India in 2027 and it has launched Swar Prerna Veethika. It is a permanent photo gallery that is dedicated to India’s legendary musicians. It was inaugurated by Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia at the Akashvani Rang Bhavan Auditorium in New Delhi and this initiative celebrates the Akashvani’s long-standing contribution to preserving and promoting the Indian music.

What Is Swar Prerna Veethika?

Swar Prerna Veethika is a specially curated photo gallery established by Akashvani to honour the country’s most celebrated musicians who have played a significant role in enriching the country’s musical heritage through the public broadcasting.

The gallery can be seen as a tribute to artists who have maintained a close association with the Akashvani and received some of India’s highest civilian honours. By preserving their legacy, this initiative aims to inspire the aspiring musicians, music enthusiasts, researchers, and future generations.

This launch is one of the flagship events of Akashvani’s year-long celebrations and marking its 90th anniversary and serves as the precursor to the centenary of radio broadcasting in India in the year 2027.

 

Green Oscars 2026

India has once again earned global recognition in environmental conservation as two remarkable Indian women were honoured with the 2026 Whitley Awards, popularly known as the ‘Green Oscars’. The award recognises outstanding grassroots conservation leaders from across the world for their efforts in protecting biodiversity and restoring ecosystems.

The prestigious ceremony took place at the Royal Geographical Society in London, where the awards were presented by Princess Anne of the United Kingdom on behalf of the Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN).

The Indian winners this year are Parveen Shaikh and Dr. Barkha Subba, who were recognised for their impactful conservation work and were each awarded £50,000 to support their ongoing environmental initiatives.

 

Kerala Long Jumper Who Broke 22-Year-Old National Record

Ancy Sojan, who is a rising long jumper from Kerala has rewritten the history books by breaking the country’s one of the longest-standing athletics records.

At the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2026 in Bhubaneswar, the 25 year old produced stunning jump of 6.88 meters, and with this she surpassed Anju Bobby George’s iconic national record of 6.83 metre which had stood unbeaten for the 22 years.

 

LA28 Olympics Cricket

Cricket will make the its long-awaited Olympic comeback at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and it marks its first appearance since the 1900 Paris Games.

Both the men’s and women’s events will be played in the T20 format and total six teams will be competing in each tournament.To ensure the fair representation while maintaining competitive standards, the ICC has designed the qualification system which combines continental representation, world rankings and a final qualifying tournament.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 has produced the first four Olympic qualifiers.

The qualified women’s teams are the, Australia (Oceania), Great Britain (through England) (Europe), India (Asia) and South Africa (Africa)

Unlike the women’s event, qualification for the men’s tournament will primarily depend on the ICC Men’s T20I rankings.

Four automatic places will be awarded to the highest-ranked eligible teams from the,

  • Africa
  • Asia
  • Europe
  • Oceania

The rankings will be considered as of December 31, 2026.

 

Italy Becomes the UNESCO World Heritage Capital

Italy has officially become the UNESCO World Heritage Capital after reaching 61 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the highest number recorded by any country in the world. This remarkable achievement highlights Italy’s extraordinary cultural heritage, ancient history, architectural marvels, and breathtaking natural landscapes.

Out of the 61 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, 55 are Cultural Heritage Sites and 6 are Natural Heritage Sites, reflecting the country’s unparalleled contribution to world civilization. The recognition further strengthens Italy’s position as one of the world’s most visited cultural tourism destinations.

 

Jonathan, the World’s Oldest Living Land Animal

Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Jonathan who is the world’s oldest living land animal during his official state visit to Seychelles National Botanical Gardens on 28th June, 2026.

The meeting was formed part of the Prime Minister’s official visit to Seychelles and he attended the country’s National Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour and also commemorated the 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.

Jonathan belongs to the species of the Seychelles giant tortoise which is one of the largest tortoise species in the world.

He currently resides on the Saint Helena it is a British Overseas Territory that is located in the South Atlantic Ocean.

 

Bureau of Port Security to Strengthen Maritime and Cyber Security

The Government of India has established the Bureau of Port Security (BoPS) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. This body has been formed to oversee the security of ships, ports and related infrastructure and also addressing the emerging threats such as cyberattacks.

It is also modelled on the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and BoPS will serve as the India’s apex regulatory authority for the maritime security, ensuring safer port operations, stronger surveillance and improved the coordination among the security agencies.

 

Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK)

India has launched the Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK) and will improve the child healthcare in the country. It was introduced by the Respectable Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda during the 16th Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) Meeting and it provides a unified framework for home and community-based care from birth to 36 months.

What Is Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK)?

Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK) is the national child health initiative which is designed to ensure continuous healthcare support for every child during the first three years of the life. It is guided by the vision of it means that (Comprehensive Care During the First Three Years), this program combines the existing Home-Based Newborn Care (HBNC) and Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) schemes into a single integrated framework.

The program recognizes that the first 28 days are crucial for the newborn’s survival, while the first three years are essential for their brain development, nutrition, and overall physical and emotional growth.
