Udupi, Jan 14: Tulu Koota Udupi organised ‘Kemthuru drama award ceremony-2008’ here at Mudanna Mantapa Mahatma Gandhi Memorial College on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Syndicate Bank Assistant General Manager A Srinivas Mendon said the cultural activities have to be encouraged and Tulu language has its own inherent worth and lauded the efforts of the Tulu Koota in popularising the language besides striving to broaden the fame of the Tulu plays.
Tulu plays ‘Namma Ulayeedaye’ from the artists of the Ranjana, Katpadi and ‘Girasthe’ from Sangam artists Manipal bagged 1st and 2nd prize respectively. Senior artist Sanjeev G Saliyan and member of Karnataka Natak Academy Sukumar Mudradi were honored on the occasion. Manipal Academy of General Education Administrative Officer Dr H Shantharamwere present.
