Mangaluru, Jun 23: St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai, held two meaningful community outreach programmes on Sunday, June 22 reaffirming its commitment to public welfare and service.
1. Free government ID and facility update drive
In association with the Catholic Sabha, Bejai Unit, a free drive was conducted to assist parishioners in updating their government records and identification documents, such as Aadhaar and Voter ID. Held at the SFX Hall, the initiative benefited nearly 200 individuals.
The programme was inaugurated by Fr Johnson Sequeira, principal of Lourdes Central School, who also addressed the beneficiaries. Present at the event were Ashok Pinto, vice president of the Bejai Parish Pastoral Council; Rohan D'Souza, president of the Catholic Sabha; Jenevia Andrade, secretary; Raghu Pinto, Ronald D'Silva, and other members of the Catholic Sabha.























2. Health insurance and medical check-up Camp for senior citizens
In collaboration with the Senior Citizens Welfare Association, Bejai Unit, a special health insurance and check-up camp was held at the St Francis Xavier Kannada Medium Primary School Hall. The camp catered to senior citizens aged 70 and above, including those from other parishes and faiths.
Highlights of the camp included:
• Around 150 registrations for the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
• Free health check-ups by Accu-Labs, covering blood sugar, blood pressure, audiometry, eye screening, and physiotherapy consultations, benefitting 96 senior citizens
Present on the occasion were Fr Norman Mathias, assistant parish priest; Ashok Pinto, vice president of the parish pastoral council; Godwin Pinto, coordinator of parish commissions; Nigel Albuquerque, and Rajesh Lobo, proprietor of Accu-Labs.
Both events reflected the church’s continued dedication to social responsibility and the well-being of the wider community.
