Kuloor parish brings back rural tradition with ‘A day in the paddy field’ programme

Mangaluru, Jun 24: The Catholic Sabha and ICYM unit of St Anthony Church, Kuloor, organized a unique programme titled ‘A say in the paddy field’ on Sunday, June 22, at the paddy fields of Mezhi teacher in Kuloor Melkoppala.

The event was inaugurated by the parish priest, Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, who presided over the function. Chief guests Ida Furtado, president of the Catholic Sabha, episcopal city deanery; Winston Joel Sequeira, president of the central committee of ICYM; and referee Praveen Lobo, Bejai, together initiated the programme by planting paddy seedlings.

In the competitions held in the field, the first prize was won by St Anna Ward, the second prize went to St Anthony third Ward, and the third prize was secured by St Joseph Ward. The president and dignitaries distributed the prizes to the winners.

Rowin D’Souza, president of the Catholic Sabha Kuloor Unit, welcomed the gathering, and Arvin Monteiro, president of ICYM, proposed a vote of thanks. Reema Crasta compered the event.
