Recipes - Raw Mango Rice


1 ½  cup jeera/ basmati rice 
1 raw mango
1 onion
1 green chilly
2 tbsp. oil
½ tsp. mustard
½ tsp. jeera/cumin
½ “ ginger
1 tsp. urad daal
1 tsp. channa daal
2 tbsp. ground nuts/ pea nuts
2 stems of coriander leaves
2 sprigs curry leaves
Salt to taste


Wash and soak rice in water for half an hour.  Then strain and cook in enough boiling  water along with salt. Once cooked, strain and set aside.

In a pan, heat oil, splutter mustard, jeera, urad daal and channa daal.  Add curry leaves, ginger and green chilly. Add ground nuts and fry well.  Add grated mango. Fry until mango turns soft.  Then gently mix cooked rice.  Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with pickle of your choice.
