Recipes - King Fish Gassi

Ingredients:

4 slices of king fish
4-5 long red chillies
1 cup grated coconut
1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
1 tbsp. coriander seeds
1 tsp. urad dal
2 seeds tamarind
1 small onion (sliced)
3 tbsp. oil
Salt as per taste

Method:

Wash and pat dry the fish slices. Add little salt and turmeric powder to the fish slices and set aside for few minutes.

Heat a pan and dry roast coconut until light brown and set aside. Dry roast coriander and urad dal as well. Roast chillies adding few drops of oil. Add some more oil and shallow fry the marinated fish pieces from both the sides for about 2 minutes.

Grind, roasted coconut and chillies along with tamarind until fine paste. Lastly add coriander and urad dal and grind coarsely.

In a vessel add masala paste along with masala water rinsing the blender. Bring to a good boil. Add fish pieces and salt as per taste. (Fish pieces have salt). Bring to a good boil and set aside.

In a seasoning pan, heat oil and fry sliced onion until brown and pour over the prepared gassi. Cover and set aside.

Serve with steamed rice.
