Mangaluru: Absconding passenger caught smuggling ganja to Doha arrested

Mangaluru, Sep 17: A special customs team has succeeded in apprehending an accused who was found to have been trying to smuggle ganja to Doha via Mangaluru airport.

Mohammed Haneef was caught at Mangaluru International Airport here on Friday September 15 for trying to smuggle ganja to Doha, but he managed to escape from the airport.

Haneef, a native of Kozhikode, Kerala, was about to board the IX 821 flight to Doha from here, when he was caught by the customs officials.

The officials had seized 4.5 kg of ganja from the accused.

According to official sources, the special customs team arrested Haneef near the railway station here on Saturday September 16.

He has been produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.
