Doha-bound passenger caught with 4.5 kg ganja at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru, Sep 15: A passenger was arrested at Mangaluru International Airport here on Friday September 15 for trying to smuggle ganja to a Gulf country.

The accused, identified as Mohammed Haneef, was about to board the IX 821 flight to Doha from here, when he was caught by the customs officials.

Haneef is a native of Kozhikode, Kerala.

The customs officials grew suspicious of Haneef and subjected him to a thorough inspection, during which, he was caught carrying ganja.

The officials seized 4.5 kg of ganja from the accused.

Haneef was then arrested and handed over to the authorities concerned for further investigation.

    He should be thankful to our customs.Otherwise he had to give up his head in Doha if they allowed him go with the stuff. Either he is for the first time carrying for the money ,or he is a regular pendler with drug.best was to allow him to carry under observation and see where it would land.and later arrest both.

    Not sure if he was a dealer, or just a carrier. Whatever the case maybe, our local police saved him from the sure death penalty.

    Well its quite sad pepole are using very dangerous way to earn money putting there family on risk of lossing them forever, hats off to the blue collar worker's i have a great respect for them.
    Mangalore Airport has witnessed very ugly way of Smuggling Gold and what not? These people are from neighbouring state and distroying my city to the core someone has to stop his criminality.
    Mangalore is a very clean city and its growing in big way lot of fortune 500 companies are planning to have an investment and it will create lot of job opportunities for our youth this kind of smuggling will not make good for us, hardly i have seen Mangalore'ns r involved, i am not being rude here we have to put high security alert for the passengers who are from our neighbouring state

    If you see mangaloreans are making their name and reputation not only
    National level even it has been recognized in international level.
    So as we mangalorean we should not tolerate these kind of illegal activities
    Which makes our mangloran name to be spoiled .

    I don't understand why some of these passengers carry prohibited goods and that too ganja in such a big amount to a gulf country. If he was caught in Doha or any of the Gulf countries he would end up his life there.
