Doha : Bunts Qatar Gear up for Gurukiran Nite

Doha, Nov 19 : Spirited Bunts Qatar association under the baton of its dynamic president Ravi Shetty is all set to host Gurukiran Nite, a musical extravaganza rendered by Mangalore's very own Kannada music director and Filmfare Award winner Gurukiran on November 23 at Regency Halls, Mall Signla, 'D" Ring Road, Doha.

The event will start at 5.30 pm.

About Gurukiran
 
Gurukiran started his career as a music director of the Kannada movie "A", directed by Upendra in which he had also acted. Gurukiran's music has won hearts of Kannadigas all over the world. His music for the movie 'Upendra' has further consolidated his position in Kannada movie industry. He is a native of Mangalore and his mother tongue is Tulu. He has also acted in several movies as a supporting actor and also sung several songs. He is popular in Kannada cinema for his foot tapping musical scores.
 
After graduating in commerce from Mangalore University, Gurukiran started performing in orchestras in and around Mangalore as a singer and a keyboard performer.
 
He started off his musical career in 1994 as an assistant to the well-known music director V Manohar well known music director and lyricist. He entered the film industry and tried his luck with acting, and was given a prominent role in 'Nishkarsha' directed by Sunil Kumar Desai.
 
He had a chance to be a music director in "A' directed by Upendra. Gurukiran did his best, worked hard spent some sleepless nights to compose some fantastic songs. The rest is history. His recent hit 'Apthamitra' directed by P Vasu again reinforced the power of Gurukiran in music. 'Jogi' released in the year 2005 was a milestone in his career of Gurukiran. The film's audio album sale even before the release of the film is an all-time record in the Kannada film industry. This hit forayed him into Telugu movie industry as music director for the remake of the same movie.
 
His upcoming movies include Yuvarajyam (Telugu), Rowdy Simha (Telugu), Lakshmi (Kannada) Harischandra Ghat (Kannada) and Bhimoos Bang Bang Kids (Kannada).
 
Among his several awards are the 'Nava Yuva Prathibe' award for the best entry in the TV Industry for acting and music (1994), 'Chitra Premigala Prashasthi' and 'Indira Priyadarshani Prashasthi' awards for 'Pavithra' and 'Jeevan Chakra' Kannada TV serials (1996), 'Udaya TV Award' for his debut in 'A' (1998), 'Aryabhata Award' for the title music of 'Balabeladingalu' (2000), three consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Music Director for the Kannada films 'Chitra' and 'Dhum' (2002) and Apthamithra (2004), 'Sri Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Award', 'Sri Balindra award' and 'Karavali Mutthu' award for his excellency in music (2005), and 'ETV Award' for the Best Music Director for the blockbuster hit' Jogi (2006).
