Mangaluru, Nov 30: The Karnataka Konkani Writers Association, Mangaluru, organised a meet the author programme featuring renowned senior Konkani writer Vally Vogga (Valerian D’Souza of Mysuru) on November 30 at Sandesha Hall, Mangaluru.
Vally Vogga was formally welcomed to the dais by Dr Edward Nazareth on behalf of the Association’s executive committee. In his address, the author reflected on his life journey, recalling his childhood in his native village of Vogga, noted for its reserve forests, wildlife, hills, lakes and rivulets. He spoke about his early years spent working in industries, followed by his move to Mysuru where he established his own industrial venture. During this phase of his life, he authored hundreds of short stories published in leading Konkani periodicals such as Raknno. Many of these works have since been compiled into anthologies. He also highlighted that around 40 of his Konkani short stories, translated into Kannada by himself, have been published as a separate anthology.














An interactive session followed, moderated by executive committee member Henry Mascarenhas, in which writers H R Alva, Concept Fernandes, Richard Pereira, Jemma Padil, Dolphy Cascia and Dirvem editor John Monis, among others, actively participated and engaged with the author.
The programme was attended on the dais by the Association’s convenor Richard Moras and committee members Dolphy Cascia, Dr Edward Nazareth and Henry Mascarenhas. The event was compered by writer Lavi Ganjimat.
Around 55 writers and Konkani language enthusiasts were present, lending vibrancy and significance to the literary gathering.
