Deadline for Special Intensive Revision extended in Bengal & Kerala

Daijiworld Media Network – New Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 30: The timeline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has been extended in several parts of the country, with West Bengal and Kerala granting additional time to complete pending processes.

In West Bengal, the submission of enumeration forms has been extended from December 4 to 11. Accordingly, the draft voter list that was earlier scheduled for release on December 9 will now be published on December 16. Kerala has also extended the submission deadline for enumeration forms to December 11, with the draft roll similarly set for release on December 16.

The final electoral roll for 2026 will be published on February 14. The SIR process is currently being implemented across 13 states and Union Territories.

Election Commission issues revised schedule

According to the Election Commission, all restructuring or correction work related to polling stations must be completed by December 11. Updating of control tables and preparation of draft rolls will take place from December 12 to 15. After the publication of the draft electoral roll on December 16, voters will have time until January 15 to file claims or objections.

Instructions have also been issued to Electoral Registration Officers to dispose of claims, objections, and decisions on enumeration forms between December 16 and February 7. With these procedures completed, the final electoral rolls for all nine states and Union Territories under SIR will be published on February 12.

Officials noted that the extension will offer major relief to Booth Level Officers (BLOs), many of whom were yet to complete the submission and digitisation of enumeration forms.
