Udupi, May 27: A grand felicitation ceremony was held at St Cecily’s School, Udupi, to honour schools that achieved 100% pass results in the SSLC examinations for the academic years 2023–24 and 2024–25. A total of 147 schools were recognised for their outstanding academic performance.
Dr K Vidyakumari, deputy commissioner of Udupi, and Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna presided over the event and felicitated school representatives, students, and staff. Each government and aided school that secured a 100% result received a grant of Rs 25,000, while private schools were awarded trophies as a mark of recognition.

Three students—Swasthi Kamath, Nidhi Pai, and Saisparsha—who scored a perfect 625/625 were specially honoured by the dignitaries. Students of Brahmavar Government School, who topped the taluk, were presented with laptops by MLA Yashpal Suvarna.
Sister Preethi, principal of St Cecily’s School, was felicitated for her support and recognised on the occasion of her transfer to Mangaluru. DDPI Ganapathi K was also honoured for his dedicated service to the Udupi education district.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Yashpal Suvarna said, “We are proud that every year at least one student from Udupi scores full marks. The district continues to lead in educational excellence due to the dedication of our teachers and students. I assure continued support to government and aided schools and encourage students to consider careers in IAS and IPS, along with traditional streams like engineering and medicine.”
Deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari said, “I congratulate all the schools and students. The 147 schools that achieved cent percent results are the reason Udupi district secured the second rank in the state. Some schools are still awaiting revaluation results. If they also attain 100%, we will organise a separate felicitation for them. I also congratulate the three students who secured full marks, and their proud parents.”
She added, “We must acknowledge the tremendous efforts of the teachers, who have been guiding lights to their students. I held three meetings with senior education officials, and the department’s support played a key role in today’s success. During school visits, I observed students studying even in the evenings, and I truly appreciate these efforts. While we celebrate today’s achievement, let us now focus on the new academic year, which begins on May 29. Let’s start strong from day one to ensure even greater success. The government’s financial support to government and aided schools is a recognition of your hard work. Principals must continue striving for better outcomes by identifying weak areas and improving teaching methods.”
DDPI Ganapathi K said, “When I was posted to Udupi two years ago, I did not expect it. As the son of a farmer, I was told Udupi is a land of intelligence, and many dream of working here. I am proud that under my tenure, the district produced three students with perfect scores. These two years passed quickly, thanks to the teachers’ commitment. I saw many of you conducting extra and remedial classes. That collective effort helped Udupi achieve second place in the state. True happiness doesn’t come from salary or money, but from the success of our students. I sincerely thank all the BEOs and every teacher who supported me during my time here.”
The event began with a prayer song. The welcome address was delivered by DDPI Ganapathi. Bala Krishna read the list of honoured schools, and Rajendra Bhat compered the event.
The ceremony was attended by MLA Yashpal Suvarna, deputy commissioner Dr K Vidyakumari, DDPI Ganapathi K, BEOs of Karkala, Udupi, Brahmavar, Kundapur, and Byndoor, teachers’ association president Prabhakar Shetty, principals’ association president Kiran Hegde, SSLC nodal officer Bala Krishna, principals, teachers, and others.
