Udupi, Mar 14: The annual day of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management, Niramaya College of Nursing and Niramaya College of Allied Health Sciences Bantakal was jointly celebrated on March 13 at the institute premises with great enthusiasm and participation from dignitaries, faculty members, staff, and students.

His Holiness Sri Akshobhya Ramapriya Theertha Swamiji, junior pontiff of Balagaru Akshobhya Theertha Samsthana, Thirthahalli, graced the ceremony and delivered his blessings.

In his address, His Holiness highlighted that the historical contributions of ancient Indian sages such as Madhwacharya and Vadiraja Theertha contain profound scientific insights. He emphasised that spirituality and modern science are interconnected rather than contradictory. He encouraged researchers to explore ancient knowledge systems such as sound-based weather influence, rapid agricultural germination, and traditional metallurgy from a scientific perspective in order to unlock their potential for future technological advancements.

The function was presided over by Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji, president of Sri SodeVadiraja Matha Education Trust (SSVMET), Udupi. In his presidential address, His Holiness referred to the ancient moral story of the three fishes, emphasising the importance of foresight and proactive planning in life. He urged individuals to become visionaries rather than procrastinators. Connecting this wisdom to the vision of a self-reliant India, he highlighted the contributions of innovators such as Dr Raghavendra H S Rao who are strengthening the nation through indigenous technological development. His Holiness also blessed Dr Raghavendra H S Rao during the occasion.

The chief guest, Dr Raghavendra H S Rao, founder, chairman and managing director of DCX Systems Limited, addressed the gathering and encouraged students to undertake innovative projects involving automation and advanced technologies. He assured financial assistance for promising projects, offered opportunities for industrial visits, and encouraged students to pursue entrepreneurship. He also announced a Rs 5 lac scholarship for nursing students and emphasised that time management and discipline are key factors for success.

The programme began with an invocation rendered by Sharanya Tantry, a second-year student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Rathnakumar, secretary of SSVMET, welcomed the gathering.

The annual report for the academic year 2025–26 was presented by Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal of SMVITM, and Shivashankar Pai, principal of NCAHS. The report highlighted the major academic achievements, research accomplishments, and notable successes of the faculty, staff, and students.

Sachin Prabhu, assistant professor (senior), Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, introduced His Holiness Sri Akshobhya Ramapriya Theertha Swamiji. The chief guest, Dr H S Raghavendra Rao, was introduced by Roshni Rodrigues. Dr Raja Yateesh Yadav, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, announced the names of various scholarship recipients and PhD awardees, while the Proficiency Awards were announced by Dr Sachin S Bhat, dean (R&C).

Dr Sudarshan Rao, Dean (Academics), announced the best second year and third year student awards and the best outgoing student awards (Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Prashashti). The best outgoing student awards were presented to: Annapurna Shenoy – Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering; Natasha Chrissane Lobo – Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Nagendra Pai – Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning; Satvik S Bhat – Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Preethi M, assistant professor (Sr) Department of Computer science and Engineering announced the names of the various sponsors, who were subsequently recognised and felicitated by the CEO and the Principal.

The programme was compered by Sudhir, assistant professor (selection grade), Department of Mechanical Engineering, and Kavyalakshmi, assistant professor (senior), Department of Mathematics.

The programme was attended by several dignitaries including P Srinivasa Thantry, president, SSVMET; Rathnakumar, secretary, SSVMET; Harish Belman, Sunder Madakshira, H V Gowthama, and Shyam Sunder, members of the Trust and advisory board; Professor Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO, SODE group of institutions; Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, SMVITM; Roshni Rodrigues, principal, NCON; Shivashankar Pai, principal, NCAHS, Dr Sudarshan Rao, dean (academics), Dr Sachin S Bhat, dean (research & consultancy), Dr Deepika B V, overall coordinator, Pranith Shetty, president of the Student Council, and Veerendra Nayari, general secretary of the Student Council, parents, students and others.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr Deepika B V, overall coordinator, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, organisers, and participants for making the Annual Day celebration a grand success.
