Unnao rape victim dies, netizens bay for another 'encounter'

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): The Unnao rape victim who was set ablaze and airlifted to Safdarjung Hospital here on Thursday has died.

The victim who had more than 90 per cent burn injuries lost the battle after 43 hours and died due to cardian arrest.

According to reports, the Unnao rape victim, was set ablaze by five men who had raped her in march and were out on bail.

The 20 year old victim ran for a kilometer with 90 per cent burns, in intense pain, crying for help and assistance. She was on the way to the Rae bareli court when she was attacked and set on fire. As per reports, after the incident with burn injuries, she took a bystander's mobile phone and called the emergency help number and police herself.

Safdarjung Hospital

Twitter is abuzz with #unnaorape with netizens now calling for a Hyderabad style encounter for the perpetrators of the crime in Uttar Pradesh by the UP Police.

"Unnao rape victim could not survive from burn injuries. How UP police is going to act now? Will it follow the precedent set by Hyderabad police? Accused is out already on bail...Let's see, how justice prevails and law takes its own course from here", said a tweet.

"RIP Unnao victim , hope with your life you will help redefine witness protection in our country", a netizen said.

"On the day when #unnaorape survivor is set on fire, four rape accused in telangana rape case are killed in an encounter by police, without trial", said another tweet..

"UP police you know what to do next". "karo encounter", is the sentiment on twitter. Another tweet said, "It's not a good reflection on part of the @UPGovt & @Uppolice! The threat was known and it could have taken steps to ensure a safe place elsewhere. Was tht not possible? She fought for justice, but the authorities have failed her!".

As per a report, Unnao is now the "rape capital" of Uttar Pradesh with a plethora of such cases.

    Please go through these carefully:
Before people bay for blood of accused in Unnao case, some facts : Here's bail order of Shivam Trivedi, alleged rapist in unnao k ibeti case. Rape case was filed when his parents said no to his & womans marriage.
Unnao ki beti wanted to be her rapists wife even though he raped her, abandoned her after marrying her. Country right now thinks she was also raped brutally when she & accused were together for 2 years. Things turned ugly when guys parents refused to accept her as daughter in law.
Evidences personally accessed by a local team of journalist convey that rape case was false hence FIR wasn't registered first. Shubham, village pradhaan son was implicated to pressurize shivam for marriage since they are cousins. All other 3 were never named earlier. This could be case of self immolation too!! Or a case of revenge by the accused. . Will people be okay if a falsely accused murders his false accuser? This blood thirst will result into many unintended conequences. Prepare.
While people are calling all of these 5 men as rapists, case was initially registered against Shubham & Shivam. One of the old man here is Shivams father. I don't understand inclusion of a fathers name in rape on promise of marriage case.
Family of accused says neither shivam nor shubham was present where girl was burnt. It was early morning around 4:15am when they were sleeping at home. Now this of course is matter of investigation. Nothing proven yet but cries for lynching of 5 again
Locals have already hinted about extortion of several lakhs as settlement of bad marriage. It is not simple case of rape but complaint of rape after living together for 2 years in love/marriage. Let the administration complete inquiry to find the truth.
It's not been proven they raped her.
It's not been proven they burnt her.

shame on people who tend to write this dastardly crime, as though they have been investigating this case better than the police/courts. I only such incidences wont happen to them to feel the pain/anguish it causes to family and dear ones.
What happened in uaano is a shame for us men and our nation, we have let down our daughters/wives/mothers/sisters and children.
First of all why release criminal on bail, and allow them to erase/remove the witnesses and cause untold misery, it has happened time and again, when will our courts/police/lawyers learn from this incidence.
Just imagine for a moment that those very daughters/women/children were our own...….then don't we rush to safeguard their very dignity/safety, why this lax mentality. Whole world is pointing fingers at us and call us rape capital of the world...….do we need this title, travel overseas and see how heads turn towards us.
its high time each village/town/city has its own civil volunteers to conduct voluntary patrol and provide 24/7 access to phone, at least this will not be effective, however until our legislature/police/lawyers ( who are known to postpone cases for their own selfish agenda), courts must not allow postponements especially for rape & murders trials.

lets wake up, and do our bit,

Executive and Judiciary are the two pillars, in a democratic union of India... Today the Judiciary has been overwhelmingly, overburdened with enormous number of cases, hence unable to give justice to the citizens of our Republic. This scenario is extremely volatile fo the nation... We are on the threshold of extra judiciary killings, by gun men, from police and security agencies... This horrific situation, will destroy the country, and will result in total disarray and destruction of India !!!!

Unnao Gang Rape incident is Horrific than Horror Show.

The police registered FIR in the Unnao rape case only after a direction from the court. Victim had long and tortured road in front of the entire Nation as news highlighted from time to time. Our system is null and void, with base of bias media, bias citizens and bias law and order. I refer here BIAS because we behave based on where our benefit lies in. i.e., we elect our leaders even on our bias views not on ground reality.

As usual after death of victim getting assurance from Government, condemnation from Opposition Political Parties, useless preaching from NGO’s, defenders from Human Right activist from their own safe zone and last of all temporary voice/slogans from people as well.

This is our so called democracy !!!

Crimes are directly attributable to the failure of society. Rape is a result of the patriarchy and the condoning of mistreatment of women. Yes, we are to blame equally if not more.
So many people baying like hounds for blood, willing to forego law, willing to ignore justice, not understanding that this approval and encouragement makes it very very easy to get the same treatment applied to you and yours without evidence or trial. . This makes it a crime upon a crime and we are complicit

Do not call for encounter of rape accused.
Demand that at no circumstances the accused will be let out on bail.

Just imagine the following scenario, hypothetically relating to Hyderabad encounter.
The culprits are very influential and are close to top politicians. Police, under pressure fixed some innocents. The police were sure that the evidences will not stand in the court and finally their malpractice will be revealed. Hence to close the case they encountered the framed innocents.

Even if this is case is not anywhere near to the above scenario, wouldn't the massive public support for such an encounter, prompt our corrupt police officers to repeat the same things again for their benefits??

I really doubt the police in Hyderabad whether they encountered the real culprits or the innocent to cover the rich? Because there is no eye witness unless the victim called her sister and explained over the phone. In UP, police know the culprits, so they can not encounter because may be they belong to political groups. Mr. President said we have to hang them, then why delay? Bureaucracy? I hate the system. The life is so cheap in India, you can kill innocent by rape, murder or encounter. No accountability either with courts, police or government.
