Udupi, Nov 3: The massive protest taking place at Shirva Church premises seems to be coming to some conclusion as Udupi superintendent of police (SP) Nisha James admitted that, the suicide of Fr Mahesh D’Souza had taken place due to 'pure personal reason.'

In her address to the protesters SP Nisha tried to convince them about the suicide case, complete process investigation and related issues. When a protester asked 'Who is the person who entered the church premises during night of October 11, 2019?' she refused to disclose the name, and said "It is pure personal matter.”

This information can be a crucial revelation to the people all over the world who are eagerly waiting for the cause of death.

"Due to request from family of Fr Mahesh, we are not able to disclose the matter which is still under investigation" SP said in her address. `

Some people were heard shouting in the crowd “Enquire the person who visited on that night and his wife also.”

SP also said “If anyone feels that the course of investigation is not proper, one can file a complaint about it with us regarding the same. If you feel we are not doing proper job, and the probe should be given to some other agencies, then also you can send the request to the concerned,”

“We have shared all the personal details available to us with the family of deceased Fr Mahesh. Investigation is in progress. We are waiting for postmortem and FSL reports. Mobile phones of the deceased too have been sent to a lab in Bengaluru,” she informed.

“As the investigation is on right track, there was no need for us to give details now. But as a law and order situation arose due to the protests held I am giving you all these details,” she said.

She also revealed that two brothers and parents of the deceased met her and said that matter need not be probed from any other angle than suicide.

Fr Mahesh D’Souza, principal of Don Bosco School allegedly committed suicide on October 11 and his funeral was held on October 15.

On November 2, a group of protesters in large numbers demanded a proper probe into the issue. They demanded that bishop should meet them. Accordingly the bishop met them on November 3 and addressed them.

When the protesters were not ready to disperse, the SP addressed them.

First of all committing suicide itself is crime in Christianity, olden days they were not even buried inside the church. Priest are trained for 14 years to handle all pressures, so you normally don't find any priest committing suicide all over the world, they rather council depressed . Being principal of school , parish priest and loved by all has left wrong message to young generation, also left lot of innocent people in jeopardy.

If it was explicitly written that it was his personal reason for Fr Mahesh to commit suicide ...then police or priest authorities can say personal reason. But without any suicide note, it is not accurate to say personal reason. There is some coverup by somebody powerful...no doubt.

I do not understand logic behind 'Personal'

If police wipeout every high profile case as 'personal' when justice will be done?

First time in life I heard a case neither suicide nor murder but personal matter.

To sweety and Tony. We know we have to respect our church authotities as we respect our own parents. But they too have to look after their children (God's disciples) who have left everything and came to serve god. Because they are seniors they cant give torture to them. Respect others and take respect that's it.

Fr. Mahesh is a human too. What I gather is he might have done something that would put a dark mark on his reputation. So Bishop, police and family members do not want to go further. Whatever be the case, Fr. Mahesh is hundred times valuable person on this planet for his contributions, hard work, live. RIP Fr. Mahesh.

Give the police time to complete the investigation ie., 60 days. Respect the family concerns of Fr Mahesh. Emotions should not get a better place than reason. Accept the final verdict with grace. Avoid letting local politicians fish in troubled waters. Allowing politicians will result in innocent people landing in prison and these political guys escape the clutches of law. If anyone has any other confirmed reason for his suicide please file a complaint with the police and take the case forward in the interest of Justice and Truth.

Definetly the person who first sees it. Thereafter the State (Police representing the State) will take over the case and investigate. This is common sense. Only investigation will reveal the truth which is under progress in the case of Fr Mahesh according to the SP. Just because the first information is given by the person who sees a suicide it doesn't mean he or she knows all the reasons or can persume reasons for the death. Facts and Fiction are not the same. Patience is required for Truth to Triumph.

There is a big misunderstanding in the public about the difference between Civil and Criminal matters.

If someone complains about a civil matter, he can withdraw the complaint and matter is closed. In criminal matters, there is no requirement of a formal complaint. Police will register the case and proceed without waiting for anyone's complaint and also cannot stop investigation even if the family or anyone else asks to withdraw the case. The government fights the case of the victim of a crime, no personal lawyer is required, that is why the govt appointed lawyer is called "public" prosecutor. Police will close case only after the conclusion of the investigation.

When situation is not within the control human being, in such cases.. Human being is controlled by the Situation to do or commit or proceed to that action...
Probably that might have happened for deep depression and caused for his off time...

Naturally other factors are responsible such as Politico-internal or external..such things almost everywhere..

    Post Mortem consists of aspects.
    1. Dissecting the body
    2. Analysing tissue samples for drugs/poisons etc.
Some of the latter Forensic toxicology tests may take weeks for the result to come.

Because of bad decisions from one person now i feel soo many good people are suffering..If his family and elders of the church are convinced that he committed sucide because of his own personal reasons why people get involved in this .. Truth may be bitter So give thier personal space .and allow the departed soul to rest in peace

According to public they are right, reason should be disclosed. But according to family & Committee they too right some personal reasons cant be disclosed.
So any strong evidence available in this case then please bring it to light, or else stop this and close the case.
Its better deceased family address the public.
Every one has his own personal life. Let the departed soul Rest In Peace. And take care in future no such incidence will happen.
