Mangaluru, Sep 3: Spreading the joy of Krishna Janmashtami, Kadri Cricketers Club (Regd) and Asare Friends Kadri organised their 13th annual free rice distribution programme at the Government School auditorium in Kadri, Mangaluru.
The programme was inaugurated by Kadri Mosaru Kudike Utsava Committee president Kiran Jogi, along with other dignitaries, by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
As part of the programme, more than 650 eligible families from the Kadri locality were provided free rice, enabling them to celebrate the festival with greater happiness and dignity.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath appreciated the organisers for continuing the initiative every year. He said the programme reflects the spirit of sharing and ensures that every family gets an opportunity to celebrate the festival happily with food at home.
Kamath said he was happy to be part of such a meaningful initiative and praised the Kadri Cricketers Club and Asare Friends Kadri for their continued service to the community. He extended his blessings and wished the organisers and their families good health, happiness and prosperity.
The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of two achievers for their outstanding accomplishments. Retired professor Uday Master and 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs' winner Ashmith were honoured by MLA Vedavyas Kamath on behalf of Kadri Cricketers Club and Asare Friends Kadri.
The programme was attended by Kadri Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple trustee Dilraj Alva, Brindavan Hotel owner Shivananda Rao, Amrith Kadri, J Sathyendra Bhat, Lion Kishore D Shetty, Ashok D K, Lion Prashanth Shetty, Sudheer Kadri, Mohan Koppal, George, Gokul Kadri, Kadri Cricketers Club president Gaurav Kadri, Asare Friends Kadri president Dinesh Kadri, honorary president Deepak Salyan, club members and several other dignitaries.
The annual initiative once again highlighted the spirit of community service, compassion and sharing the happiness of the festival with every family.
