Mumbai, Nov 7: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar (85), who was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Wednesday, is stable and responding well to treatment, his treating physician Dr Pratit Samdani said on Friday.

“He is recuperating well and responding well to treatment. Any decision on his discharge will be taken in due course of time,” Dr Samdani said.

Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who visited the hospital to enquire about Pawar's health, said the veteran leader could be discharged on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Pawar, Shinde said they had a good conversation and that the NCP chief was in good health.

He added that doctors had informed him that Pawar's health parameters were normal and there was no cause for concern.
