Company asks affected people in Kuwait to produce GP, air ticket

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Kuwait, Jun 19: The company for which 72 persons including 33 Mangaluru-origin people, who faced untold miseries after visiting that country for employment, were working earlier, has asked 41 among them to produce government project letters and air tickets within seven days towards facilitating their return journey to India.

The said decision was taken at a meeting held on Monday, June 17 at Shoun meeting held in the presence of Indian embassy officials and representatives of the said company. The employees need about Rs 25,000 each to procure air tickets. They are hoping that someone will extend help to them in the regard.

These persons, who are facing problems at Kuwait, had gone to that country under a scheme of working for government projects. But the agency which arranged for their travel with the promise of working for government projects had recruited them in private company. If their Vias have to be cancelled and passports are handed back, they need to submit GP letter to Shoun without fail. But there is question of who will issue GP letter to them.

If the employees produce GP letter and ticket bought for undertaking journey to India, Shoun cancels the tickets and sends passports to Indian embassy. From there, these employees have to collect them. But the employees who are facing financial crisis, are finding it hard to buy air tickets.

In the meantime, it is said that the company concerned is pressurizing the employees to sign resignation letters which it has prepared, to prove that the company does not have nothing to do with these people.

No.. I will not agree with your words. People who work in India are living more lavish life than overseas peoples. Everybody who work in India own a bike, car & smart phone with 3G/4G line. But overseas people will think 1000 times before buy anything. Yes..!! people who resides in India only saw the one face of the overseas money. But they don't know the struggle & hunger to save each rupee. Many of them not visited their homeland for 5-6 years due to lack of money. But who work in India, they attend every feast, marriage, party & etc.
Now somebody will ask the question that, who told you to go overseas to earn money..??
Answers is very simple, In India you can earn money & at same time you have to spend too.. So there no saving.. But if you work in overseas, you can earn as well as save the money. If Indian will not work in overseas, then who will buy the lavish flats of India & how the plumbers, electricians and tile laying guy can get his salary..??
Equation is very simple, Indian government should care of his peoples.

it is a time of Nationalism in each country and the middle eastern countries are not akin to this. They also started recruiting the nationals in place of expatriates. In a country like Oman, there are around 189 professions are banned for expats and reserved for the locals. These include positions like AGM's .all categories of engineers, technicians, nurses, medical specialist including doctors in government hospitals. There are lots of people losing jobs because of this national fervor. As these countries educated and employable people increase there is a real threat to new jobs. With these countries population also increasing there will be a real dearth of jobs in the coming days. Also with the drastic drop in crude oil prices, the threat has become more severe. People work for less than Rs 12000/- per month and get their salaries after 3 months. For getting these jobs they spend Rs 2- 3 lakh. Sometimes I wonder how they will get back that money. It is time expats think working their own country in low skilled areas like construction, electricians, plumbing, etc and there are real opportunities. Today in Mangalore we import people from Jharkhand, West Bengal etc to carry out the construction work and locals are not involved. Previously the people from North Karnataka were coming ,but they also are not getting jobs. I feel youngsters should forget the lure of moving to middle eastern countries and make a living at their native place. This will be the same situation in the USA with the relection of Trump as President which is certain to happen

In Udupi / Mlore- plumbers, electricians and tile laying demand more than thousand rupees a day! Even after agreeing to pay so much they show a week later than promised.
