Bengaluru, Sep 5: As part of the current Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll, over 43.81 lac notices have been generated in the state, of which 7.31 lac have been delivered to voters so far, the office of the chief electoral officer (CEO) stated on Friday.
As of September 4, the state has 4,46,38,124 voters on the electoral roll, comprising 2.21 crore male, 2.24 crore female, and 2,871 transgender voters.
As part of the electoral roll revision work, notices have been issued to voters whose names fall under the 'no mapping' and 'anomalies' categories, officials said.
According to a statement issued by the CEO's office, out of the total 43,81,143 notices that were required to be generated, 43,81,141 have been generated so far. Among these, 7,31,770 have been successfully delivered to voters, while the delivery of 36,49,371 notices is pending.
A total of 206 hearings have been completed. The hearings, which commenced on September 3, will continue until October 12 before the electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs).
Upon the request of registered and recognised political parties, the lists of individuals who have been issued notices under the 'no mapping' and 'anomalies' categories will be shared before September 6, the CEO's office stated.
Currently, 224 EROs, along with 4,262 AEROs and additional AEROs, are functioning during the notice phase. As per the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), a second special campaign for voter registration will be conducted on September 19 and 20.
Following the rationalisation of polling stations, 1,873 new booth level officers (BLOs) have been appointed, and their logins have been created on the BLO app, the statement noted.
To review the voter registration process, the CEO held a video conference on September 3 with the district election officers and officials from various departments. They were instructed to undertake Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities and organise special campaigns.
The CEO's office mentioned that several queries were received from voters who could not find their names in the same part where they were previously registered in the draft electoral roll. It clarified that a voter's part number and serial number might have changed due to the rationalisation and re-arrangement of polling stations.
"Voters who cannot find their names in their previous parts are requested to search using their EPIC (Voter ID) number on voters.eci.gov.in or through the ECINET mobile application," the statement added.
