Massive blast at Bolivia military base leaves 10 dead, 60 injured

La Paz, Sep 5: At least 10 people were killed and around 60 others injured after a massive explosion at a military base in Bolivia’s western city of Viacha on Friday.

The explosion occurred at a military facility where firecrackers were reportedly stored, triggering a powerful blast that caused multiple casualties.

Local health director Rita Nebraska confirmed the death toll while speaking to Noticias Bolivision television. Several injured people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police spokesman Roger Roca said the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation. He also said seven people were reported missing following the incident.

Rescue teams, police and emergency personnel continued operations at the military base as authorities worked to locate those missing and determine what triggered the explosion.
