Kaup, Apr 18: It is alleged that a married person from Chattisgarh, working in a fish mill at Udyavar, has raped a minor girl. The girl, who also is from Chattisgarh, has become pregnant as a result, it is said. The incident happened at Udyavar village.

The accused, identified as Sajun Ram Chauhan (30) stands arrested by the police.

Chauhan had brought the said 16-year-old girl from Chattisgarh to his home on October 18 last year in order to look after his wife and child during her delivery. Even after the maternity period of is wife, he retained the girl at his home. It is said that he forcibly raped the girl. When she became ill recently, she was referred to the doctor, who informed the family that she was in the family way.

Thereafter, the girl filed complaint in the police station here, whereupon the police arrested the accused. He has been booked for rape and different section of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
