Mangaluru, Jul 1: Lourdes Central School, on June 30 transformed its Conference Hall into a haven of rhythm, melody and meaning as it marked World Music Day with a celebration that echoed passion and precision. Anchored in the belief that music unites, heals and uplifts, the event brought together the school community for an immersive journey through musical heritage and youthful artistry.
The programme opened with a heartfelt prayer sung by students of classes 3 to 5, whose angelic voices stirred the audience and set a sacred tone. Mahima eloquently shared the significance of the day, followed by a thoughtful message by Viona, prompting reflection on the transformative power of music. The first wave of applause belonged to the students of classes 6 to 8, as over 125 voices soared in harmony during the special song performance, a choral tribute to the universality of music.

Next came the instrumental crescendo, an orchestra blending Indian classical and western music, performed by students of classes 8 to 10. From the resonating veena and soulful flute to the groovy saxophone, rhythmic drums, guitars and keyboards, each note was a testament to rigorous training and boundless talent. The boys choir’s skit on Beethoven was not merely a performance, but a narrative encounter with genius, artfully interweaving humor, drama and history.
A defining moment in the school’s musical journey arrived with the launch of the music book "Legatto", composed by the school’s own maestro, Roshan V Cordeiro. This significant release, officiated by principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, and graced by the gracious presence of vice principal Anita Thomas, marked a milestone in the school's musical odyssey — a symbol of vision and encouragement for future performers.
The celebration concluded with a birthday tribute, a soul-stirring address by the principal, and the reverent singing of the school anthem — a graceful finale to a day that truly allowed music to do what it does best: speak to every heart.
