Recipes - Cucumber Rava Idly


1 cup roasted  rava
2 small cucumbers
¼ cup jaggery
2 tbsp. grated coconut
3-4 cardamoms (powdered)
2 tbsp. cashew nuts
1 tbsp. raisons
1 tbsp. ghee
Salt as per taste


Peel and grate cucumber.  Transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add the roasted rava and  mix well.  Add powdered jaggery, cardamom powder and salt.   Allow it to rest for 15 minutes.

Heat ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisons. Pour this over the rava mix. Add grated coconut and mix well.

Boil water in a steamer. Grease the idli moulds. Pour the batter in the idli moulds until half and steam them  for about 15 mts.

    Add chopped green chillies and ginger instead of jaggery and follow the same procedure.

    The cucumber & jaggery water/ juice is enough to wet the rawa. In case the mixture is too dry, you may add some water to adjust the consistency.
