Recipes - Bread-Butter Pudding
10 Slices of bread
4 Tbsp. butter
4 Tbsp. jam (orange/ strawberry)
2 ½ Cups of milk
8 Tbsp. sugar
20 Almonds/cashew nuts
3 Tbsp. raisins
Trim the edges of the bread slices. Soak almonds in warm water. Remove the skin & slice them thinly. Apply butter on 5 slices of bread and jam on the other 5 slices. Place a slice of butter on the slice of jam and make sandwiches. Cut the sandwiches into 1” cubes.
Warm the milk slightly and set aside. Beat the eggs along with sugar until smooth & frothy. Pour the milk into the egg mixture and mix well.
Arrange the bread cubes in a heat proof bowl. Sprinkle almond flakes/cashew nuts and raisins. Later pour the egg-milk mixture. Press the bread cubes slightly & see that they are soaked in this mixture.
Place this bowl in a steamer or a double boiler and steam on slow flame for about 30 – 45 mts.
You may serve this warm or cold.
