Mangaluru: Consumers feel relieved as onion prices fall further

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Dec 13: The major markets here have begun to get onion supply from Hubballi and Pune since the last two days. As a result, there has been gradual decline in onion prices. The wholesalers expect onion prices to come down further.

Price of onions came down on Thursday to Rs 80 to 90 per kg. Although onion imported from Egypt also is available, it commands less demand as its price is Rs 130 per kg.

Onion from Turkey is expected to reach Kundapur market on Friday and it might be sold at Rs 110 per kg, sources said.

Freshly harvested onion is also being received but its shelf life is not long. If kept for some days, it begins to rot. As big size onions are not locally available, Turkey onions are being sold to hotels and others where demand for bigger onions is high. Turkey onions were sold at the rate of Rs 95 in Hubballi on Thursday.

Either onion/garlic or tomato is not so important during this recession of onions.
Most will not use the above items for curry.

Mangalore & surrounding areas, the loot is going on in the name of Onions. Rs 160 per kg is the present rate here at Mangalore. Onion dealers earned their annual income in a single month. Thanks to the lobby which made them rich in a short span of time at the cost of the middle class, the poor & the farmers.

Be sincere, my friend. No Indian Hindu will go to Pakistan for citizenship and likewise no Pakistani Muslim will come to India for citizenship. Everyone including you know it.

Jeevan, it's a pity that you don't see hypocrisy in CAB. They are opening the borders for refugees on communal grounds, not on humanity grounds. There could be many like Malala but India doesn't care for them, India cares for only HINDU Malalas.

Same UK take gave shelter to Malala, is also sheltering NiMo and Lamo. Where is your Hinduism now ?
