Malali Masjid row: Mosque management seeks quashing of VHP petition

Mangaluru, May 31 (IANS): The Malali mosque row in Dakshina Kannada district has taken a new twist with the masjid management making a submission to the local court on Tuesday to quash the VHP demand.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had moved to the court demanding appointment of a court commissioner to survey the Juma Masjid in Malali town near Mangaluru. Challenging this, the management of Assayed Abdullahil Madani Mosque administrative committee filed the petition.

The Third Additional Civil Court will take up the matter on Tuesday. The court is likely to take a decision on whether to order a survey there.

Temple structure was found on April 21 during the renovation of Malali mosque, stirring up a controversy. Following the controversy, the court had ordered the mosque management to stop the work.

We don’t care about inflation, sky rocketing prices, unemployment, price of gas and petrol, bad roads, corruption and everything else. We want only Hindu, muslim, cow, beef, hijab, halal, anti conversion and we are all happy. What matters for us is only religion and politics.

There may have been or not temple or Jain Basadi in the same spot but the mosque was built in 2001 by legally owning the land to build the mosque. Mosque wasn’t built illegally in that spot intentionally by destroying Hindu holy places nor was it built in the past by any Muslim ruler. So, there is no validity in VHP’s argument not to resume renovation work for the mosque and the ownership of the site continues to be with mosque management. If the court still insists then the govt should give them another land free of cost and build the mosque free of cost to serve the same local Muslim community by giving a all clear certificate of NOC from ASI, local survey dept, govt and the court.

Courts should quash such petitions in the first place. Merits of the case: nothing. Demerits : unnecessary communal tensions and long staying communal hatred.
