Shimoga, Apr 30: The prestigious honorary awards by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy were conferred on Melwyn Rodrigues, Adolphus Cutinho (Dolla Mangalore) and Chandrashekhar Kharvi at a gala function held in IMA Hall here on Sunday April 29 evening.

As reported earlier well-known Konkani poet, member of Daijiworld editorial board and one of the founders of Daiji Dubai Writers' Forum Melwyn Rodrigues, famous Konkani actor, humorist and director Dolla and renowned folklorist from Kundapur Chandrashekhar Kharvi were selected for the prestigious awards given by Konkani academy.

Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario welcomed the gathering and delivered keynote address. Bishop Jerald Issac Lobo of Shimoga was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr K A Ashok Pai, director of Manasa Educational Foundation for Mental Health presided over the function.  Senior Kannada and Konkani writer Na D'Souza was the guest of honour. 

 Konkani Yuva Awaz general secretary Denis D'Silva introduced the awardees.  Melwyn Rodrigues spoke on behalf of the awardees.  Na D'Souza who has been awarded doctorate by Kuvempu University was felicitated by people from Shimoga.  'Kharvi Lok Geet Sangrah', a collection of Kharvi folk songs compiled by Suresh Tandel Honnavar was released by Dr K A Ashok Pai on the occasion.

Academy registrar H S Shivarudrappa proposed the vote of thanks and member Vitori Karakala compered the programme.

Siddhi Kala troupe from Yellapur and four cultural troupes from Shimoga presented cultural programmes at the end of the function.
