India, Turkey in talks on IS threat: Envoy

Kolkata, Jun 16 (IANS): Turkey's ambassador to India Burak Akcapar has said his country and India are "talking to each other" on tackling the threat posed by the Islamic State militants.

"I think we should talk to each other a lot and we are doing it... India and Turkey. There will be consultations about the on-ground situation, the reasons for it... at very superior levels," Ackapar told the media here on Monday evening.

He, however, ruled out any military action.

"We are assessing together and exchanging information on improving our mutual assessment but definitely not (considering) military action," the envoy said on the sidelines of the launch of his book 'People's Mission to the Ottoman Empire: M.A. Ansari and the Indian Medical Mission, 1912-13' at the Oxford Bookstore.

The book is the first full narrative of the medical mission to the Ottoman Empire conducted by Indian Muslims during the Balkan Wars.
