UP man kills live-in partner, dumps body in river after she refuses bizarre demand

Lalitpur, Jul 18: In a chilling case from Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur district, a man allegedly murdered his live-in partner after she refused his demand to cohabit with both him and his to-be wife, police said on Thursday.

The accused, Jagdeesh Raikwar, was arrested while attempting to flee. According to police, he showed no remorse and claimed, “She wanted to die, so that’s why I murdered her.”

Jagdeesh, who was in a live-in relationship with a woman named Rani, reportedly poisoned her after inviting her back to Lalitpur. The woman, who had earlier left her husband to live with Jagdeesh, walked out of the relationship when he insisted that she live with him and his future wife.

After she moved to Ashok Nagar in Madhya Pradesh, Jagdeesh became enraged. Police said he searched Google and YouTube for ways to commit murder, then lured Rani back. He spiked her drink, strangled her once she fainted, and stuffed her body into a blue plastic sack.

Riding with the body on his bike, he dumped it in the Shahzad River before fleeing to his native village. Days later, local fishermen discovered the sack and alerted authorities.

Rani’s decomposed body was hard to identify, but a tattoo on her hand reading "R-Jagdeesh" helped police crack the case.

Police confirmed the accused purchased both the poison and the sack in preparation for the murder. Further investigations are ongoing.
