Dharmasthala case: Chinnayya released from jail 24 days after bail

Shivamogga, Dec 18: 'Maskman' Chinnayya, who had been lodged in jail in connection with the Dharmasthala case, was released from the Shivamogga Central Prison on Thursday, December 18, 24 days after being granted bail.

On Thursday morning, his wife, sister and advocate arrived at the prison and took him home.

Chinnayya, who had initially appeared as a witness and complainant in the Dharmasthala case and later became an accused, had been in jail for four months. The Dakshina Kannada district court had granted him bail on November 24, imposing 12 conditions. However, his release was delayed as no one had come forward to execute the bond and provide sureties.

On DEcember 17, his wife Mallika completed the legal formalities by submitting a bond of Rs 1 lac along with two sureties before the Belthangady principal senior civil court, paving the way for his release.
