Kundapur, Jul 16: The body of one of the three fishermen who went missing after a fishing boat capsized off the coast of Gangolli on July 15 has been recovered.
The deceased has been identified as Lohith Kharvi (39). His body was found at around 4.30 am on Wednesday, July 16 by the team led by expert diver Dinesh Kharvi near Kodi beach.

The tragedy struck on July 15 morning near the old estuary area of Gangolli, when a boat carrying four fishermen capsized after being caught in a severe storm. Among them, Santosh Kharvi of Malyarabettu was rescued by local fishermen.
The search is still on for the remaining two fishermen, identified as Sipaayi Suresh Kharvi (48) and Jagannath Kharvi (50). However, continuous rain, strong winds, and rough seas have hampered the rescue operations.
The group was among several teams—around 8 to 10 boats—that had ventured out to sea on Tuesday, July 15 morning. The ill-fated team had set out around 6 am, but due to worsening storm conditions and increasing wind pressure, they began to return. As they neared the Gangolli estuary gate, their boat was caught in a violent gust of wind and overturned.
One fisherman fell overboard, prompting two others to jump in to rescue him. Unfortunately, all three were swept away. Only Santosh Kharvi could be rescued. The storm made rescue efforts extremely difficult and dangerous.
