Bengaluru, Oct 31: Classical vocalist Sivasri Skandaprasad, wife of Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, is making her debut in the Kannada film industry, not as an actor but as a playback singer. She has lent her voice to ‘Daiji’, the upcoming film starring Ramesh Aravind in his 106th outing.

With its shooting wrapped up, the film is now in the post-production stage, with sound mixing and visual effects (VFX) work under way. The makers are expected to announce its release date shortly.

Produced by Ramesh Kashyap and Sudha Kashyap, ‘Daiji’ is directed by Akash Srivatsa. Adding to the musical appeal, actor and lyricist Dhananjaya has penned the lyrics for two songs in the film. These tracks feature the voices of renowned singer Sonu Nigam and Shivashree Skandaprasad, marking her entry into Kannada cinema as a playback singer.

Describing the film as a story rooted in real-life incidents, producer Ramesh Kashyap said that the screenplay is jointly written by Abhijith Y R and Akash Srivatsa.

The film boasts an ensemble cast led by Ramesh Aravind, with Radhika Narayan, Avinash, Diganth and B M Gururaj in prominent roles. International artistes Alexander Taylor and Sandy Higgins are also part of the cast.

Music is another major highlight of the project, with Juda Sandy, Nakul Abhyankar and Sachin Basrur coming together as music directors. Shreesha Kuduvalli has handled cinematography, while Lakshmi Krishna is in charge of costume design.

The film has several other interesting musical collaborations. Vibha, daughter of producer Ramesh Kashyap, has sung a song featuring English lyrics, with Juda Sandy composing the music. Abbi V, known for his association with the acclaimed film ‘Kantara’, has lent his voice to a song with a devotional theme.

Music director Sachin Basrur has also taken on the roles of lyricist and singer for one of the tracks, having written its lyrics and rendered the song himself.

With its blend of an ensemble cast, multiple music composers and a diverse line-up of singers, ‘Daiji’ is gearing up for its release. The makers have said that the release date will be announced soon.
