Kundapur, Jul 15: Three fishermen have gone missing after a fishing boat capsized near the Madi Lighthouse in Gangolli due to strong winds and heavy rain on Tuesday, July 15.

The missing fishermen have been identified as Lohit Karvi (38), Suresh Kharvi (45), and Jagadish (43). One fisherman, Santhosh, managed to escape and was rescued.

Heavy rainfall has been lashing the region since morning, and the sea has remained rough. The trawl boat carrying the fishermen is said to have overturned after being hit by strong waves. Of the four fishermen on board, only one has been rescued, while three are still untraceable.

While two fishermen attempted to rescue their colleague who was drowning, all three went missing.

The Social worker Eshwar Malpe's team is currently carrying out search operations to trace the missing fishermen.

Eshwar Malpe has urged all fishermen to ensure they use safety measures and wear life jackets while going out to sea for fishing activities.

Search operations are currently underway to locate the missing fishermen. Further details are awaited.
