Kadaba, Nov 1: An accused involved in four theft cases registered at the Kadaba police station, who had been absconding for the past five years, has finally appeared before the court.

The accused has been identified as Vishal Ponke (30), a native of Maharashtra.

The theft cases were registered at the Kadaba police station in 2016.

The co-accused in these cases, identified as Narasimha alias Raju from Doddaballapura, Vijay Suresh Ponke from Maharashtra, Naveen Chandra Singh, Chandrakant Poojary from Uttara Kannada, and Prakash Bahadur from Mandya, were earlier sentenced to two years of imprisonment by the ACJ and JMFC court in Puttur.

However, Vishal Ponke had remained at large and evaded court appearances for five years. The police had launched a search operation to trace him, and the court had subsequently issued a proclamation against him.

On October 30, Vishal Ponke surrendered before the 2nd ACJ and JMFC court (mobile court, Kadaba) in Puttur. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.
