Mangaluru: PUC students face confusion in new format question papers

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SS)

Mangaluru, Jan 26: The new format of the question papers for PUC has created confusion among the students. The PUC Examination Board had announced multiple choice answers to the questions under the new format and made preparations in that direction. But, the new format of the question paper has been implemented only for the subjects such as English, Physics and Chemistry. But, there is no clarity on the question paper format for the other subjects. Due to lack of clarity and instructions, the students who are preparing to write the examination are in a confused state of mind and are caught in a bind.

Also, there is no announcement or clarity on the new format question paper for the subjects in the arts and commerce disciplines as they have been only given a model question paper and a blueprint which is the cause of confusion among the students.

Preparatory examinations for PUC students are currently underway. Also, the timetable for the final exams has been announced. Students have been busy preparing for the exam.

As there is no clarity on the new format of the question papers for other subjects, the Dakshina Kannada district pre-university colleges principals' association has written to the minister of school education and literacy B C Nagesh seeking clarity and a solution to the issue.

The examination board has also not announced the evaluation parameters for those students who choose more than one answer for the multiple choice questions. The lecturers also feel that it would be suitable if instructions on evaluation norms are announced before the preparatory exams get over so that the same norms could be applied for the final exams.

This is what happens when unqualified and uneducated so called politicians run the Ministry of Education. There is enough of time for the education department to come to a concensus as to how the format of the question paper for each subject should be. Such decisions can be finalised within a month at the maximum. They wait till the preparatory exams to induce more stress on the poor students. Board exams as it is is stressful for the students and when there is no clarity on the format of the question paper imagine their plight. This is really unacceptable.
