Mangaluru, Feb 6: The much-anticipated Tulu film ‘Non Veg’, produced under the Jayakiran Films banner by Prakash Pandeshwar and directed by K Suraj Shetty, was released at Bharath Cinemas and across coastal Karnataka.
Senior advocate Mayurakeerthi inaugurated the film by lighting the lamp and extended his best wishes to the team. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Getting an opportunity to release this film is a great honour for a genuine Tulu cinema lover. I watch almost all Tulu films. My close friend Prakash Pandeshwar, who earlier created history by producing Chalipolilu, has produced this film as well. I wish Non Veg completes 100 successful days.”

President of the Tulu Drama Artists’ Association, Kishore D Shetty, said that Chalipolilu had earlier given a major breakthrough to Tulu cinema. “I have already watched Non Veg twice. The film is very good. Everyone should watch it and make the film team successful,” he appealed.
Speaking on the occasion, actor Naveen D Padil said, “Non Veg is a family-oriented film that can be watched by the entire family together. I request Tulu film lovers to watch the film and bless the team.”
Tulu Film Producers’ Association president R Dhanaraj, producer Prakash Pandeshwar, Virat Gowda, Arjun Kapikad, producer Mukesh Hegde, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, former CATK president Pammi Kodialbail, Ashwini Prakash, Ismail Moodushedde, director Suraj Shetty, actor Atharva Prakash, and others were present.
The film Non Veg is expected to create a sensation and set new records, similar to Su From So. Made entirely with coastal talent, Non Veg presents a unique and different storyline. One of the film’s core messages is about how things often considered taboo or unacceptable are, in reality, natural and sometimes unavoidable.
Several prominent artistes from Su From So are also part of Non Veg. These include Prakash Tuminadu, Bandero Bandero Bava Bandero fame Pushparaj Bollur, Deepak Rai Panaje, Mime Ramdas, Vismaya Vinayak, and Roopa Varkady. Actress Sanjana Burli, known for the serial Puttakkan Makkalu, has played the female lead, showcasing her impressive acting skills. Kuseldarse Naveen D Padil appears in a key role, while Atharva Prakash plays a prominent character.
The film offers ample entertainment along with a strong message and engaging storyline. The subject of Non Veg itself is expected to delight audiences. The story revolves around an innocent young man in search of love, making it particularly appealing to the youth. It is a film that parents can watch along with their children and is said to help prevent youngsters from going astray.
Director Suraj Shetty said the entire story and message have been presented through humour, which is a major plus point. The film sensitively portrays the anxieties, confusion, and curiosity of youth, shaping them into a beautiful narrative while delivering a positive social message. “Love means affection, but how we interpret that love and what we experience because of it is what the film explores. The movie also highlights how our mindset often turns negative over a single word that we consider inappropriate. Every scene keeps the audience engaged,” he said.
Producer Prakash Pandeshwar said the film, which focuses on youth issues, is expected to win the hearts of college students and young audiences alike. He added that Non Veg offers everything needed to entertain audiences tired of repetitive themes. The fact that the film comes from the Chalipolilu team of Jayakiran Films, which created history in Tulu cinema, has further raised expectations. The entire film has been crafted with humour by the director.
