Missing Taiwanese man in Nepal found, woman dead


Kathmandu, Apr 27 (IANS): A Taiwanese man has been traced 47 days after he went missing while trekking in Nepal's Rubi Valley, a media report said on Thursday. His woman companion was, however, found dead.

Liang Sheng-yu and his girlfriend Liu Chen-chun were stuck in a snow-covered area and rescued from a cave at around 11.45 a.m. on Wednesday, the Kathmandu Post reported.

Liang is warded in the ICU at the Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu.

The couple stayed at a home-stay in Lawadung in Tipling district for three days till March 8 before heading to trek on their own without any guide.

They were last seen at Pangsang in Rasuwa district on March 9 and were using the trail leading to Langtang region from Rubi valley.

Various parts of the district had witnessed heavy snowfall the same day when the couple went missing.

It is learnt that the couple fell while trying to descend to the Somdang Valley via Pangsang pass, the Kathmandu Post reported.

Their family members contacted Kathmandu-based Asian Trekking Pvt Ltd seeking support to trace the couple's probable route after 15 days since the couple went missing.
