73 taps stolen from Congress office in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, May 18: A bizarre theft was reported from a Congress office in Chhattisgarh where burglars allegedly stole 73 taps, vandalised washrooms and left behind a handwritten note reading “I love Ambikapur”.

The incident took place at the Congress office in Ambikapur and reportedly caused losses of around Rs 80,000. Party leaders claimed the note appeared to mock the police administration.

According to Surguja district Congress president Balkrishna Pathak, the thieves entered the premises through the rooftop before targeting the washrooms.

“The thieves entered the office premises from the rooftop and removed 73 taps installed in various washrooms. They also damaged several wash basins, commode flush systems and pipelines,” he said.

Pathak termed the incident a serious challenge to law and order and said the audacity of the burglars in leaving behind a message reflected growing criminal activities in the area.

He further alleged that drug addicts and anti-social elements could be involved in the theft.

“Not just common people, even offices of political parties are no longer safe,” he said, claiming that police personnel were occupied with VIP security duties.

This is reportedly the third theft incident at the Congress office in recent months.
