Jaipur, Nov 12: The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) may be forced to shift all their home fixtures to Pune for the upcoming IPL 2026 season, following the ongoing suspension of M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The decision, currently under discussion, comes in the wake of the June 4 stampede incident during RCB’s victory parade, which led to the temporary closure of the iconic Bengaluru venue.

Confirming the development, Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) secretary Kamlesh Pisal told The Times of India, “This arrangement (Pune hosting RCB’s matches) is being discussed, but it’s not confirmed yet. They are facing a problem in Karnataka due to the stampede that occurred. So, they are looking for an alternate venue, and we have offered our stadium.”
He added that while preliminary talks have taken place, a few technical and logistical aspects still need to be addressed before an official confirmation. “If things fall in place, Pune will likely host RCB’s home matches,” Pisal said.
If finalized, the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje, Pune, will serve as RCB’s temporary home ground, marking a major shift for the franchise known for its passionate fan base in Bengaluru.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is expected to begin in March next year, and the relocation could significantly alter the team’s home advantage and fan dynamics.
