Shenzhen, Sep 5: India’s star men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty moved one step closer to their second title of the season by reaching the final of the China Masters Super 750 with a hard-fought victory over Malaysia’s Nur Mohd Azriyn and Tan Wee Kiong on Saturday.

The fourth-seeded Indian duo defeated the world No. 29 Malaysian pair 21-16, 18-21, 21-11 in a closely contested 1-hour and 5-minute semi-final.

Satwik and Chirag recovered strongly after losing the second game to dominate the decider and seal their place in the title clash.

The Indians entered the match with a 2-0 head-to-head record against Nur and Tan, having beaten the Malaysian pair at the 2024 Thailand Open and 2025 Malaysian Open. They maintained their unbeaten record against the duo with another impressive performance.

The victory also secured Satwik and Chirag their third China Masters final appearance in four years, having reached the title clash in 2023 and now returning to the summit stage again.

The ‘Smash Bros’ have been enjoying a strong season. They finished runners-up at the Thailand Open Super 500 before winning the Singapore Open Super 750 in May.

Meanwhile, India’s campaign in the men’s singles event ended in the quarterfinals after Kidambi Srikanth suffered a 16-21, 16-21 defeat against Hong Kong, China’s Lee Cheuk Yiu.

Satwik and Chirag will now look to cap their impressive China Masters campaign by lifting the Super 750 title.
