Archer’s Fiery comeback stuns Pant, powers England to Lord’s test win

London, Jul 16: England pacer Jofra Archer delivered a sensational spell at Lord’s, clean bowling Rishabh Pant with a stunning delivery that sent the stumps flying and tilted the match decisively in England’s favour. The fiery moment came on Day 5 of the third Test, helping England seal a 2-1 series lead against India.

Pant, who had joined KL Rahul at the crease in India’s second innings, didn’t last long against Archer’s pace and accuracy. Following the dismissal, Archer exchanged a few heated words with the Indian wicketkeeper-batter, a moment that stirred conversation among fans and pundits.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Archer admitted he wasn't proud of his reaction but explained the trigger. “It wasn’t a proud moment. I just told him to ‘charge that’. He came down the track on a full ball and that pissed me off a bit,” Archer revealed.

The 29-year-old, making his long-awaited return to Test cricket after four years of injuries and rehab, made an instant impact with figures of 2-52 and 3-55 across both innings. “It was pretty hectic for a first game back. I probably bowled more than I expected, but every over mattered today,” he said.

Archer said returning to the historic venue was emotional and fulfilling. “I only played one other Test here at Lord’s and that was just as special. It’s been a long time coming, a lot of rehab, a lot of training — but moments like this make it all worth it.”

The Lord’s Test was intense throughout, with frequent verbal exchanges between players from both sides. Archer’s explosive performance played a pivotal role in bundling India out for 170, sealing England’s thrilling victory at the ‘Home of Cricket.’
