Recipes - Sprouted Green Gram Sukka (with Homemade Veg. Powder)


250 gms sprouted green gram
2 hog plums or 1 tomato
Salt as per taste

To roast and powder:

1 short red chilly
2 - 3 long red chillies
1 tsp. coriander
1 tsp. cumin
4 pepper corns
1/2 tsp. channa dal
1/2 tsp. urad dal
1/4 tsp. fenugreek
1/8 tsp. mustard
1/8 tsp. turmeric powder
1 sprig curry leaves
2 tsps. coconut oil

For Seasoning:

2 tbsp. coconut oil
1 tsp. mustard
6 flakes garlic (crushed)
1 small onion (sliced)
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 sprigs curry leaves
1 tsp. sugar (optional)


Heat oil and roast all the ingredients (mentioned under 'To Roast and Powder) and powder. Set it aside.

In a vessel, take sprouted green gram with crushed hog plums or chopped tomato. Add salt, half of the masala powder and enough water. Cook until 3/4 done and set aside.

Heat a pan with oil. Splutter mustard. Add crushed garlic, onion, curry leaves and reamaining masala powder. Saute well. Then add grated coconut and fry until you get good aroma. Add sugar (optional). Add cooked green gram and cook until all the water evaporates.
