Recipes - Jackfruit Payasa

Ingredients:

½ cup moong dal (green gram)
1 cup jackfruit pieces
1 cup thin coconut milk
1 cup thick coconut milk
¼ cup jaggery
2 tbsp raw rice or 3 tbsp. semolina
½ tsp. cardamom powder
1 tbsp. ghee
Pinch of Salt
Few roasted nuts ( optional)

Method:

Wash and soak moong daal in water for 15 mts.  Wash and soak rice for half an hour and then grind into a smooth paste. 

Cook daal in water until half done.  Add jackfruit pieces.  Add thin coconut milk and cook until soft.  Add Jaggery/ jaggery syrup.  ( make jaggery syrup  and strain to get rid of impurities).  Add pinch of salt.  After a good boil,  gradually  add rice paste or semolina.  Keep stirring continuously to avoid formation of lumps. Keep on slow flame and add thick coconut milk. Keep stirring.  After 2 mts,  set aside.  Add cardamom powder and ghee on the top. Sprinkle roasted nuts ( optional).
