Recipes - Rava Modak

Ingredients:
1 cup idli rava
1 cup grated coconut
1 tbsp. white til (gingelly seeds)
¼ cup jaggery
3-4 cardamoms
1 tbsp. oil
Salt as per taste
2 cups of water

Method:
Boil water adding salt and oil.  Add rava and stir continuously.  Set aside to cool.  

Heat a pan and dry roast the til/gingelly and set aside. Powder the cardamoms.

In a pan melt jaggery.  Add scrapped coconut, til and sauté until  the mixture thickens.  Add cardamom powder.

Moisten your palms with water and oil. Take lime sized balls of rava mixture and flatten on the palm.  Take spoonful of coconut mixture and place in the center  and close the edges and seal into a ball or shape of modak.  Steam for about 10 -15 minutes in the steaming pot.
