Recipes - Ray Fish Garlic Pepper (Vagollem Losun Mirim)

Ingredients:

1 medium Ray fish
2 tbsp. coriander
¼ tsp. mustard
½ tsp. pepper
1 large onion
Lime sized tamarind
4-5 flakes garlic
½ tsp. turmeric
8-10 long red chillies
2 sp. grated coconut
Salt as per taste

Seasoning:

2 tbsp. coconut oil
1 medium onion (sliced)

Method:

Clean, wash and cut fish into small pieces. Add some salt to the fish and set aside for few minutes. Later rinse thoroughly. Grind coriander, mustard, pepper, onion, tamarind, garlic, turmeric, red chillies and coconut into a fine paste.  In a vessel add the masala paste and enough water . Keep the consistency of the gravy medium thick. Bring this gravy to a boil. Add salt as per taste. Once the gray starts boiling add fish and cook until fish is soft and done.  In a pan heat oil and fry sliced onion until dark brown. Pour this seasoning over the gravy and cover.

Serve this with steamed rice.

    @Eulalia Mangalore,I would suggest to do seasoning with coconut oil and some Curry leaves and pinch of asaofetida last.That gives a good Aroma ,and taste.try it.
