Recipes - Apam


2 cups dosa rice

½ cup cooked rice (basmati)

7 tbsp. coconut milk powder

¾ tsp yeast

3 cups of water

Sugar and salt to taste.



Wash and soak the rice for at least 6 hrs. Then grind it along with cooked rice, coconut milk powder, water and yeast. Add sugar and salt. Mix well. The consistency of the batter should be medium thick. Set the batter aside to ferment for about 3 to 5 hours. Once the batter rises fry the apam in a apam pan to get lacy and soft apam.


Note: .

·     Fry an egg in the pan, and then make a bundle with it with a cloth and use this to grease the pan or alternatively you can use an onion for this.

·         Don’t make the pan too hot. The apam will not stick to the pan but will fall off!

    @ Maurice Canada,you Need not go to hunt for Idly Rice for Apam.You can use also Long korn Rice which is available in any supermarket.(which is White)it is in packets of 125grams available.It functions just like the other.
